About Dennis Reynolds
Glenn Howerton plays Dennis Reynolds, a character who co-owns and manages a bar called Paddy's Pub. At first, Dennis appears to be intelligent and normal, but as the series progresses it becomes clear that he is actually narcissistic and psychopathic. He is self-centered, conceited, and aggressive, and he takes pleasure in trying to seduce women and then manipulating and emotionally harming them. There are subtle suggestions throughout the show that Dennis may be a serial killer, however this is presented as a recurring joke and is left open-ended. In the tenth season, he receives a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, but he rejects this and views himself as completely rational. He believes he has full control over everything and everyone, considering himself to be a 'golden god'. In the twelfth season, Dennis reveals he has a young son and relocates to North Dakota to raise him. He then returns in the thirteenth season, helping his family from a distance.
