About The Big Lebowski
The Big Lebowski, a 1998 independent crime comedy film, was directed and co-written by Joel Coen and produced by his brother, Ethan Coen. Jeff Bridges stars as Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski, a laid-back Los Angeles bowler who becomes embroiled in a case of mistaken identity when he is assaulted. He soon discovers that a millionaire with the same name, Jeffrey Lebowski, was the real target. The millionaire enlists The Dude to deliver ransom money to secure the release of his supposedly kidnapped wife. However, the plan goes awry when The Dude's friend, Walter Sobchak, gets involved in a scheme to keep the money for himself. The star-studded cast also includes Sam Elliott, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, and Philip Seymour Hoffman in supporting roles. The film draws inspiration from the work of Raymond Chandler, with Joel Coen noting that they aimed to create a Chandler-esque story with episodic movement and characters trying to unravel a mystery. The original score was composed by Carter Burwell, a frequent collaborator of the Coen brothers.
