About Eustace Bagge
Eustace Bagge is a grumpy and money-obsessed farmer who lives in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas with his wife Muriel and her dog Courage in the series Courage the Cowardly Dog. He often antagonizes Courage and is jealous of the attention and affection Muriel gives to the dog. Despite his antagonistic behavior, Eustace has had to ally with or be rescued by Courage, showing him respect at times as a result. He is a cynical and jaded old man who is easily irritated and frustrated by the world around him, spending most of his time sitting in his favorite red chair reading the Nowhere News and watching television. Eustace frequently refers to Courage as a "stupid dog" and delights in tormenting him, but is also driven by jealousy of Courage's intelligence and talents. He is often seen scaring or messing with Courage for his own amusement or to get him to leave Eustace alone. Despite his harsh treatment of Courage, Eustace has been shown to have moments of needing Courage's help or reluctantly showing him respect.
