The character of Evergrimskull "Grim" Death, also known as the Grim Reaper, is the embodiment of death itself, represented as a skeleton dressed in a black cloak and wielding a scythe. Grim has been around for over 137,000 years and speaks with a Jamaican accent. The origin of his powers and status as the Grim Reaper is a topic of debate, as different episodes of his story contradict each other. Grim entered into a binding contract to be the "best friend" of two children, Billy and Mandy, after losing a limbo contest to them. If he were to ever try to end this friendship, he would be subjected to imprisonment in the Underworld Jail. Despite his frustration with the children, he still seems to care for them in some capacity. Grim also has a complex relationship with other characters, such as the giant three-headed dog Cerberus, and is often afraid of the repercussions of his magical powers. Despite making efforts to adapt to daily life and becoming more accustomed to modernity, Grim often finds himself entangled in chaotic situations due to the misuse and theft of his magical scythe.
