About Brock
Brock, also known as Takeshi in Japan, is a popular character in the Pokémon franchise. He first appeared as the Gym Leader of Pewter City in the Pokémon video games, using Rock-type Pokémon. In the anime series, he initially battles Ash and then joins him on his journey to become a Pokémon breeder. At one point, he was removed from the series due to concerns about racial stereotypes, but was later reintroduced due to fan outcry and positive reception. Created by Ken Sugimori for the games, Brock was originally meant to be the second gym leader but was changed to be the first. In the anime, he was designed by Atsuko Nishida and became one of Ash's companions. Despite being briefly replaced, he has since become one of the most recurring and well-received characters in the series.
