DIY Costumes from Home Movies
About Home Movies
Home Movies is an American animated sitcom created by Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard. The show follows eight-year-old aspiring filmmaker Brendon Small as he makes homemade film productions with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis. Brendon lives with his divorced mother Paula and his adopted baby sister Josie, and has a unique relationship with his alcoholic soccer coach, John McGuirk. The dialogue in Home Movies relied heavily on spontaneous or ad-lib creation by the actors. Scripts were intentionally left vague, with the plot merely outlined, and the actors improvised the dialogue, with the animation then created and matched to the edited soundtrack. This process, called "retroscripting," was developed by Bouchard on Dr. Katz. While retroscripting was officially used only in the first season, the dialogue in the following seasons was still heavily improvised, with the written script serving as more of a guide for jokes.
