About Keeper of the Bell
The Bell Keeper, whose true identity is a mystery, is a supporting character in the Hilda TV series and the accompanying Hilda Tie-In Series. He is responsible for minding one of the many bell towers that are built into the walls surrounding Trolberg. Although he doesn't appear in the graphic novels, the Keeper has been attending to the bell towers for numerous years, and he is the last bell keeper remaining on duty during the events of the series. In "Chapter 1: The Troll Circle", the Keeper is absent from his post when Hilda and her friends visit his tower during a safety inspection. He confesses to seeing a troll near the wall the previous night, but he failed to ring the bell to alert others. This leads to a confrontation with Erik Ahlberg, who urges the Keeper to ring the bell if a troll is spotted in the future. During "Chapter 6: The Old Bells of Trolberg", the Keeper secretly assists Hilda and her friends in sabotaging Erik Ahlberg's plan to automate all the bell towers by overloading the bells. This results in the destruction of the mechanical bell ringers, and the Keeper is ultimately reinstated at his post, content with the peaceful atmosphere. Finally, in "Chapter 8: The Fairy Isle", he runs into Anders during the Bird Parade.
