About Ned Gerblanski
Ned Gerblanski is a character in South Park who is a Vietnam War veteran with a missing right arm and an electrolarynx voice performed by Trey Parker. He is often shown as the companion of Jimbo Kern in a seemingly platonic relationship. The characters of Jimbo and Ned were inspired by sketches drawn by Parker in high school. Ned and Jimbo met during the Vietnam War, where Jimbo served as a helicopter pilot. During the war, Ned lost his right arm and his voice due to a hand grenade explosion and laryngectomy. Despite the loss of his arm, Ned is shown wielding various two-handed weapons in the show, including a flamethrower and an M249 SAW in the movie "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut." The character is also depicted with a skeletal, gray prosthetic arm in earlier episodes.
