Build your own The Beast Costume
The Beast outfit
The Beast appears in a mysterious and sinister guise, shrouded in an aura of dark enigma. Dominated by shadowy tones, The Beast dons a long, dark cape that swaths its form in gloom, giving it an ominous presence within the forest setting. The cape cloaks its body entirely, hinting at an unfathomable depth beneath the fabric. It holds an antique lantern in its grasp, the light from which pierces the darkness, creating a stark contrast with its otherwise obscure attire. The Beast's eyes, glowing a penetrating white, are the only other visible characteristic that pierces the surrounding darkness, adding to the ethereal and otherworldly impression it casts within this haunting environment. Though difficult, a costume of the Beast is not impossible; a black body suit, or matching t-shirt and sweatpants, would do the trick for the body, and a long, black cloak would do much of the rest. A black balaclava would take care of the head, and reflective round goggles would simulate the appearance of the eyes. Finally, some prop deer antlers would handle the headwear, and the overall effect would be quite accurate.
About The Beast
The Beast, voiced by Samuel Ramey, is depicted as a silhouette with a humanoid shape and antlers. He is manipulative and can possess other creatures, with glowing white eyes that can have red pupils and yellow-light blue sclera. He forces the Woodsman to carry and fuel his Dark Lantern, which actually contains the Beast's soul, under the guise that it holds the soul of the Woodsman's daughter. Throughout the miniseries, the Beast pursues Wirt and Greg, aiming to turn them into Edelwood trees to power his lantern. In the final episode, he is revealed to be composed of various grotesque faces from the souls of those turned into trees and is killed when the Woodsman puts out the flame within the lantern. The Beast is a manipulative and mysterious being who is solely motivated by self-preservation and indifferent to the pain caused by his actions. He is well-spoken and uses this to deceive and lull his victims into a false sense of security, using reverse psychology to gain power over the Woodsman. While typically even-tempered, threatening the lantern or defying him too much can cause him to lose composure.
