Star vs. the Forces of Evil, created by Daron Nefcy and developed by Jordana Arkin and Dave Wasson, is an American animated television series that aired on Disney Channel and Disney XD. It is notable for being the first Disney XD series created by a woman and the third overall for Disney Television Animation. The show follows the adventures of Star Butterfly, a lively and silly princess from the magical dimension Mewni. After accidentally setting fire to her family's castle, she is sent to Earth as a foreign exchange student and befriends a student named Marco Diaz. Together, they use "dimensional scissors" to navigate various misadventures while protecting Star's wand from Ludo, a half-bird half-man creature who wants to steal it. Throughout the series, new, more dangerous threats appear, leading to a larger and more complex narrative surrounding various conflicts, including prejudice against monsters, the rulership of Mewni, Mewni's origins, and the nature of magic itself. The series also introduces several secondary protagonists such as Star's best friend Pony Head, her ex-boyfriend Tom, the mischievous Janna, and member of the Magic High Commission, Hekapoo. Queen Moon also takes on a bigger role as the story unfolds.
