About Deputy Durland

Deputy Durland, voiced by Keith Ferguson, is a police officer who serves as the partner and assistant to Sheriff Blubs. He is depicted as unintelligent, childlike, and illiterate, but Sheriff Blubs finds these qualities endearing, referring to him as a "diamond in the rough". Instead of focusing on police duties, they prefer to joke around and have fun, often ignoring their responsibilities. Durland's love for games and shiny things leads to a lack of focus on his police work, often getting easily distracted. He struggles with solving maze games and tends to have emotional outbursts and erratic behavior when faced with stress. In one episode, he briefly expresses an insightful view on escapism, but is quickly shut down by Sheriff Blubs. The end-credits scene of "Blendin's Game" reveals Durland's past as a handyman at the Mystery Shack, but his unreliability and clumsiness led to him getting fired. However, in the series finale, he expresses love for Sheriff Blubs and is shown to be reunited with him.
